Boulder cateringOur food is different—you won’t find chafing dishes with pre-cooked food lurking within. We create true food; celebratory, not stuffy. Our food and displays feature vegetables and flowers from our 35-acre organic farm, Pastures of Plenty. Whether you want to be transformed by the flavors of the Yucatan or the hills of Umbria, or simply wish to savor locally grown organic foods — our catering delivers flavors true to this world’s great food cultures. Catering by Plenty is committed to providing clients with genuine farm-to-table cuisine. Drawing from the world’s greatest food traditions our menu emphasizes local, organic and seasonal ingredients, many from our fields or sourced from our friend’s farms, ranches, orchards, vineyards and dairies. We promise the highest quality service and full-flavored foods that are truly of our time and place.

Every event is different—so we work closely with you to customize it based on the seasonality of ingredients, palette and dietary needs, party size and budget. Imagine signs on private properties and agricultur Imagine signs on private properties and agricultural lands proclaiming “YES TRESPASSING”? As so many have been sheltering in and suffering cabin fever, wouldn’t it be a welcome surprise to be encouraged to enter this outdoor open space?⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 
Throughout the shelter-in-place order we have encouraged all of our neighbors to use our patch of 30 agricultural acres as their own private park. There is a well-worn path around the parameter of our planted fields that allows folks to get off our dusty roads and walk or bike in total safety. In opening up, our neighbors in turn offered to build a bridge over our irrigation ditch on the farm’s most eastern border. They bought the materials and labored over a weekend to create a physical bridge that symbolizes the importance of generous connection in these times of ongoing crisis. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠

We have a Tawse-Davis Family tradition that is pro We have a Tawse-Davis Family tradition that is proof positive that recipes are more than instructive guides with exact measurements. Recipes can become a family’s ritual and legacy.  In the Tawse family, there is Grandma Ruthie’s Swedish Roll Cakes which my sister Bonnie and nephew Ben continue to make on a blackened cast iron pan with the same patina I remember our grandmother using in her home kitchen more than 50 years ago. What was then is now and present through the passing down and using of one recipe.  Much like the sharing of oral stories from one generation to the next, a recipe is a way to keep our families’ distinct traditions alive. Even in a really annoying pandemic.⁠

Aren’t we all ready to lighten up?  Lighter news. Lighter restrictions. Lighter times ahead. None of that seems plausible any time soon.  Here’s a way to make life downright fluffy no matter what COVID-19 is manifesting.  It’s basically a deconstruction of a favorite lemon curd cookie recipe by Rose Levy Beranbaum in her legendary 1990-published Rose’s Christmas Cookies book. I’ve baked from this cookbook more than any other – its torn, warped and stained pages reflecting three decades of love rather than being ignored on a shelf. Levy Beranbaum’s Lemon Curd Cookie recipe is our daughter Emily’s favorite. ⁠

Don’t be afraid of mousse just because it sounds so culinary.  Most mousse are essentially a pudding or a curd with whipped cream folded in. That’s it.  Half yummy pudding or curd of choice and half whipped cream and you now know mousse’s deep secret.  You can make this into a lime curd by switching your citrus juice.  As this pandemic keeps us mostly sheltered in, we need to be momentarily transported away.  A light citrus mousse with a buttery cookie can do just that. ⁠

It’s the name of a ski run, creek, trail and mou It’s the name of a ski run, creek, trail and mountain pass at Mt. Crested Butte and in the surrounding alpine area: “Oh, Be Joyful.” It is also the phenomenon that wonderfully befell us last week, our first week of selling what we grow in an entirely new COVID-19-inspired way.  Our farm-bound farm stand as well as @MoxieBreadCo and @ShamaneBakery pop-ups proved incredibly successful. In fact, last week was our record sales for Mother’s Day week in our farms’ 25-year history. “Why in the hell didn’t we do this 20 years ago, Syl?” inquired The Curmudgeon after the first two experimental days of selling flowering baskets from non-farmers market locations.  I had no answer other than, “Apparently, it took a global pandemic to force us into real change.” Read more in our latest newsletter linked in our bio + swipe left for our latest pop-up and farm stand schedule.
