Recipe: Vinegar-ed Onions

These onions make the perfect topper to grilled burgers and steaks. I often make these in my cast iron pan.


  • White, yellow or red onions
  • Red or white vinegar
  • Salt to taste


  1. Slice white, yellow or red onions into diameters about 1/3-inch thick and place on high heat pan so they char on each side.
  2. After flipping the onions and when you have good char marks on each side, pour white or red wine vinegar over onions until it evaporates.
  3. Pour vinegar twice, then remove onions and salt to taste.
